I am going to hike 4.4 miles everyday for 30 days

The idea came to me because I have been feeling out of routine, out of shape, and out of inspiration for fitness. The gym just hasn’t been exciting me like it was when I first started and I got in a bad habit of going less and less weekly.

I have always enjoyed nature and hiking, and in recent years my boyfriend introduced me to hiking to new destinations and lengths. Being in San Diego there are so many beautiful hikes and it opened up a new world for me of inspiration and fitness in one.

I like when movement feels beautiful, when it’s something I can idolize. Pilates often felt that way for me and certain movements in the gym create that for me as well, but hiking really is the ultimate workout in my opinion.

It’s a great way to mix visual, mental, and physical stimulation in one. I have now been hiking for 6 days straight (the same mountain trail daily) It’s 4.4 miles and even though its the same trail everyday, everyday feels like it’s a new challenge and there’s always something new I find in my hikes.

Sometimes it’s a thought, sometimes it’s a new bird or butterfly sighting. Working out- outdoors has been inspiring me on a deep and personal level. I have been feeling closer to God and to myself since starting hiking just 6 days ago.

Even though I am only on day six for the challenge, I am truly so inspired to keep hiking as a regular routine in my life. It is proving to me to be the link I was missing in my day to day physical activity.

Hiking is healing me in more ways than just physical and I feel it’s just the beginning of a long and eternal journey.
